How Do You Move Towards a Better Mindset, Changing and Achieving a Positive Health Outcome?

Melinda Webb, founder of Beattie Street Health is a health practitioner of neuroscientist Dr Joe Dispenza, (one of three hundred in the world). Find out how she uses this work in her sessions as an acupuncturist integrating the mind-body connection with breathwork and visualisation to create your desired outcome.

We asked Melinda how she works with and helps her clients move through stress in everyday life and how they can create change.

Environment plays a huge role in how you think and feel, the people who surround you in day-to-day life, do they have the same ideals, and want the same outcomes?  This all affects your health and wellbeing.

Q: HOW DO YOU MOVE PEOPLE TOWARDS A BETTER MINDSET, ENCOURAGING CHANGE AND ACHIEVING A POSITIVE HEALTH OUTCOME?

Melinda: People tend to get stuck in patterns of behaviour and thought, which can lead to them feeling the same emotions repeatedly. These emotional patterns are often based on past experiences and can keep people trapped in a cycle of negativity. This can also lead to an imbalance in the autonomic nervous system (ANS) which is responsible for regulating many of the body's functions. When the ANS is out of balance it can lead to a state of "dis-ease" where the body is unable to heal and change.

Q: HOW DO YOUR PERSPECTIVE AND THOUGHT PATTERNS DICTATE YOUR HEALTH AND WELLBEING?

Melinda: True healing and change often require a shift in perspective and thought patterns. While people often rely on external factors to heal and change, the most profound changes often come from within. Information and knowledge can facilitate change, but the change must be driven by the individual.

Q: WHAT METHODS OF CARE CREATE POSITIVE CHANGE

Melinda: By incorporating breathwork and visualisation techniques into acupuncture sessions, I help my clients tap into the power of their mind to create their desired outcomes and facilitate healing.

Q: WHAT ARE THE THREE TYPES OF STRESS YOU TALK ABOUT THAT HAVE AN EFFECT ON HEALTH:

Stress can further disrupt homeostasis and trigger the body's "fight or flight" response, which can lead to a cascade of negative health effects. There are three main types of stress she sees in the clinic:

  1. Physical stress can be caused by injury, illness, or overexertion.

  2. Chemical stress can be caused by exposure to toxins or pollutants.

  3. Emotional stress can be caused by a variety of factors, including work, relationships, and finances.

Q: WHAT ELSE CAN EFFECT A PERSON’S HEALTH?

Lifestyle, personality, and emotional patterns all play a role in maintaining or disrupting homeostasis:

  • Lifestyle: Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is crucial to overall well-being.

  • Personality and Reality: Your personality shapes your perception of reality and influences your experiences.

  • Emotional Patterns: Recognizing and addressing recurring emotional patterns is essential for emotional balance.

  • Emotions and the Past: Emotions are often rooted in past experiences and can hinder present well-being.

  • Body Memory and Health: The body stores memories that can impact health and well-being.

  • Homeostasis and Language: The language we use can impact our physical, chemical, and emotional balance.
