Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine
Health is not simply the absence of pain or illness. It is the ability of the body to adapt, recover and function well through the many stages of life.
At Beattie Street Health, acupuncture is used to support people experiencing both acute and long-term health concerns, while also helping those who simply want to improve their overall wellbeing and maintain good health. Every treatment is individual, recognising that no two people experience the same symptoms in the same way.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been practised for thousands of years and is founded on the understanding that the body functions as an interconnected system. Rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or isolated symptom, Chinese Medicine looks at the relationships between the body's organs, circulation, nervous system, emotions, digestion, sleep, hormones and overall vitality.
Using pulse diagnosis, tongue assessment and a detailed health history, we identify patterns within the body that may be contributing to your symptoms. Treatment is then designed to support the body's natural ability to regulate, repair and restore balance.
Why People Choose Acupuncture
People seek acupuncture for many different reasons. Some are looking for relief from pain or injury, while others are searching for support with stress, sleep, digestion, hormones, fertility, pregnancy, recovery after birth, or simply to feel more like themselves again.
At Beattie Street Health, we care for people at every stage of life, from infants and children through to adults and the elderly. Whether you're managing a long-standing health concern, recovering from illness, navigating a life transition, or wanting to support your overall wellbeing, treatment is tailored to your individual needs.
Your treatment may include acupuncture alongside other traditional therapies such as moxibustion, a gentle warming technique often used to improve circulation, relieve pain, warm the body and support pregnancy, including preparation for labour when clinically appropriate.
Cupping therapy or Gua sha may also be incorporated to encourage healthy blood flow, release muscle tension, reduce stagnation and assist the body's natural recovery processes. Depending on your presentation, cupping or gua sha may be used on its own or alongside acupuncture.
At Beattie Street Health, treatment is not simply about helping you relax for an hour. It is about restoring the body's natural capacity to regulate itself, allowing you to move from a constant state of survival into one of recovery, resilience and long-term wellbeing.
Please note, private health rebates can be processed on the spot for an immediate refund.

Mother Warming / Postnatal Care
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the weeks following birth are considered one of the most important times in a woman's life, we refer to this as “Mother Warming. “
This time is about gently restoring warmth, replenishing energy, and supporting the body as it recovers from pregnancy and birth while adjusting to life with a new baby.
