What to Expect

Andy Webb is a trained Buteyko breathwork facilitator who brings his lived experience and practice to every class. Having lived with asthma for most of his life, Andy discovered the Buteyko Method as a transformative tool. Through this practice, not only did his asthma symptoms reduce dramatically, but his snoring disappeared, and he now wakes each morning feeling deeply rested and rejuvenated. His sessions are gentle, accessible, and designed to provide you with tools that you can take home to enhance your daily breathing, sleep, and overall vitality.

What is the Buteyko Method?

The Buteyko Method is a scientifically grounded breathing retraining approach developed by Dr. Konstantin Buteyko. It focuses on normalising breathing patterns by:

  • Maintaining near constant nasal breathing for improved air filtration, diaphragmatic tone, and improved immune response to colds and flu.

  • Normalising breathing rate and volume to lower blood pressure and heart rate, improve vagal nerve tone, and more quickly rerert the nervous system into a rest and digest response.

  • Improving overall tolerance to carbon dioxide for better oxygen delivery to the brain and body

Practising Buteyko helps regulate the body’s oxygen and carbon dioxide balance, often improving conditions such as asthma, sleep issues, snoring, and anxiety. It supports calmer breathing, deeper rest, mental clarity and greater resilience to everyday life stressors.

About the Experience

This intimate, full-day class brings together the deep wisdom and lived experience of Lucy Carroll, midwife and birth educator, and Melinda Webb, founder of Beattie Street Health, Doctor of Chinese Medicine, doula since 2008, and health practitioner trained under Dr Joe Dispenza.

Their collaboration began years ago when Melinda was facilitating acupressure workshops for midwives, a shared moment with Lucy, that sparked a friendship grounded in a mutual love for birth, family, and the transformative power of knowledge. Together, they now weave decades of experience into a day that honours both the physiology and the energy of birth.

Melinda brings her wisdom in Traditional Chinese Medicine, breathwork, and the energetic preparation for birth, offering insight into how breath and awareness influence the nervous system, energy flow, and emotional readiness.

Our one-day antenatal classes are held at Beattie Street Health Studio, Balmain — a space designed for calm, connection, and care.

If you’re unsure whether to birth vaginally or by caesarean section, this is the perfect workshop to join. It will cover all birth scenarios, empowering you to make an educated and informed decision about your birth. If you decide to proceed with a caesarean section – whether by choice or for medical reasons.

Workshop Details:

Location: In – person at Beattie Street Health Studio

Time: 9am – 4.30pm

Best time to attend: It’s best to participate in this workshop between 28 – 34 weeks of pregnancy.

Information suited for both the public and private model of care.

Monday Night Breathwork & Meditation Classes

Join Melinda every Monday at 7:00 pm for a 60-minute breathwork and meditation experience at Beattie Street Health Studio, Level 1.

No previous experience is needed, simply arrive as you are. These classes are designed to guide you into a deep state of calm and presence through the power of the breath.

What to Expect

With her soothing, grounded voice, Melinda creates a safe and supportive space for you to let go of the day and reconnect to yourself. Trained with Dr Joe Dispenza as a health practitioner, Melinda weaves the science of change with the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine and her skills as a certified Buteyko Breathwork facilitator. She combines these with her training in Spinal Energetics — allowing her to sense, guide, and shift energy as you breathe.

Each session moves you gently into a meditative state where your nervous system can reset, your body can soften, and your energy can realign. It is a class that not only calms the mind, but restores balance within the body.
